Sensors that Scale

Every sensor we create is designed for scaled manufacturing from the start. This allows economies of scale, making our sensors far less expensive – and smaller, and lower powered – than incumbent technologies.  

But lower cost is not the only advantage.

Massively reducing the cost of individual sensors and harnessing their data into our powerful data pipeline allows us to deploy multiple independent sensors in parallel and integrate sensor fusion to achieve a more accurate understanding of the environment than afforded by any single sensor. We can also deploy larger sensor networks to resolve multiple scales of variability, enabling powerful methods to measure the ocean – an image vs a single pixel – and revealing valuable insights that would otherwise remain invisible.

A Scalable Carbon Sensor:

Aquatic’s first transformational device (in late stage development) is a solid-state carbon sensor that directly measures all 4 key carbonate parameters simultaneously:

pH • pCO2 • AT • DIC

Crucially, this sensor uses no consumable reagents, has no integrated wet chemistry, runs at low power, and fits in the palm of your hand. Measurements of key secondary parameters (CTD, total gas pressure, etc) are incorporated internally.
